Planning a clinic visit in Myeongdong, Seoul

How Far Apart Treatments Have to Be

Most disappointment with these treatments comes from timing rather than technique: a course cut short, a repeat booked too soon, or a result judged before it arrived.

Why gaps exist

Three different mechanisms set the interval.

Tissue healing. Lasers, needling and peels create controlled injury. Treating again before the barrier has recovered adds inflammation rather than improvement, and inflammation is what drives pigmentation in the skin types most likely to be treated here.

Collagen remodelling. Lifting treatments work by prompting collagen, which takes two to three months. A second session during that window does not accelerate anything.

Product behaviour. Injected material takes time to settle and integrate. Assessing too early leads to adding more than is needed.

Typical intervals

Treatment Within a course Before repeating
Skin boosters 2–4 weeks between sessions, 3–4 sessions (Juvelook 4–6 weeks) Every 3–6 months once the course is done
Laser toning 2–4 weeks, 3–5 sessions Maintenance every few months
Spot pigment removal 1–3 sessions, depending on the spot As new spots appear
Fractional lasers 4–6 weeks, 3 sessions Depends on depth used
Microneedling RF 3–4 weeks, 3 sessions Once or twice a year
Focused ultrasound Single session Ultherapy about once a year; Shurink every 6–12 months, and not within 3 months
Thermage and ONDA Single session Thermage about once a year; ONDA not within 3 months
Botulinum toxin Single session, reviewed at 2 weeks About 3 months
Fillers Single session, judged at about a month 6–18 months depending on material and area
Thread lifting Single session About a year

Treat these as the usual shape of a plan. Clinics adjust them, and the reason is normally specific to your skin rather than to the device.

Courses and short trips

A course is the part that does not compress. Three booster sessions three weeks apart is roughly a six-week commitment, which no ordinary holiday accommodates.

Three ways people handle that:

  1. Start here, continue at home. Ask for the protocol in writing — the product, the settings, the interval — so a clinic at home can carry on.
  2. Do the single-session treatments here and leave course-based work for home.
  3. Return. A booster or laser course can be split across trips a few weeks apart, if the clinic writes down the protocol. Lifting treatments repeat about once a year, so a yearly return suits them.

Judging the result at the right time

Treatment When to judge
Botulinum toxin Day 10–14
Fillers About a month, once swelling and fullness have settled
Boosters 4 weeks after the last session of the course
Lifting (ultrasound, RF, threads) 2–3 months
Pigment work After the course, with sun protection maintained throughout

Judging earlier leads to the most common mistake in this field: adding more product to a result that had not finished arriving.

Plan it with the trip planner

The trip planner shows how much of a course actually fits in the days you have, and flags the treatments that need a longer runway than your trip allows. Bring the result to the consultation rather than treating it as the plan.

FAQ

Can I shorten the gap if I am leaving the country?

Usually not in a way that helps. The gap exists because tissue needs time to respond, and shortening it tends to add irritation rather than results. The better adaptation is to start the course in Korea and continue it at home with the same protocol.

What happens if I never finish a course?

You keep whatever the completed sessions achieved, which for pigment or texture work is usually partial. It is not wasted, but it is not the result the course was designed for.

How soon can I top up botulinum toxin?

Clinics generally wait until the previous treatment has fully settled — around two weeks — before adding anything, and a full repeat is normally spaced by about three months. Frequent small top-ups are not the same as an adjustment at the two-week review.

I had a treatment at home recently. Does that matter?

Yes, and you should say so at the consultation, including what was used and when. Layering a new treatment on top of a recent one changes both the risk and the plan.
